Connect Asana

The Asana connector uses Asana's MCP server, so skills can read and update the tasks and projects assigned to the person running them.

What you need

An MCP app registered in the Asana developer console. You need its OAuth client ID and client secret; Asana's server authenticates through this pre-registered app.
A Harriet role that can manage provisioning; the Add connector button is disabled otherwise. See roles and permissions.

Install the connector

Open Connectors. Then select Add connector to open the catalog.
Pick the Asana card. It carries a Hosted badge: Asana runs the MCP server and Harriet connects to it over HTTPS. The wizard shows the notice "Users connect their accounts under Profile → Integrations after this skill is assigned."
Enter your OAuth client. Fill in Asana OAuth client ID (from the MCP app you created in the Asana developer console) and Asana OAuth client secret.
Select Install Asana. Harriet creates the connector and syncs its tool list from Asana's server.
Create a skill, or skip. Pick a published use case, optionally ticking Add new skill to default profile, or choose Skip — connector only and attach the connector from skill authoring later.

Credentials, server URL, and tool access can all be adjusted afterwards in Integration settings; narrow what each audience can call under tool permissions.

Authorize

Your organization supplies the OAuth client during install; each person then authorizes individually. The first time someone needs the connector, they connect their Asana account under Profile → Integrations, and tools act on the work visible to that account. See per-user OAuth connections.

⚠️

Asana's MCP server expects OAuth through a pre-registered app. Without a client ID and secret from the Asana developer console, the install cannot complete and nobody can connect.

Tools you get

The tool list is synced from Asana's MCP server at install. Per the catalog entry, it covers tasks and projects in Asana's work graph, and the starter skill directs the model to read and update work assigned to the person running it. Review the exact synced list in Integration settings, since Asana controls what its server exposes.
